When I told a friend I wasn’t planning to set up a registry, she looked at me gravely and said, “Please don’t do that.” It’s every wedding guest’s worst nightmare, she said, to want to buy something for the couple and not have any direction. To which I say: We are serious about the not buying us anything thing. I’m not bluffing. If I can deter you at this point, please, let yourself be deterred! Paying for a hotel room in New York City is gift enough.

However, if you cannot be stopped, I didn’t want to leave you completely on your own. So here are some of the places we love the most—and a few we’ve always wanted to try. Do whatever it is that you will do.
