Where to stay

There are infinite places to stay in New York—it’s New York, baby!—so feel free to do your own thing. But here are a few spots folks have recommended to us if you’d like to skip the research.

BUDGET PICKS

The Penny Williamsburg

A cute, relatively inexpensive option that’s close to shopping in Williamsburg and a train ride away from our venue.

You can book through our discount code here.

Hampton Inn Downtown Brooklyn

We have a room block! You can book a room here.

(Would recommend also checking outside the block in case it’s a little cheaper. There are also more room options outside the block.)

This spot is a bit further from the venue, and located in a less charming area, but it’s cheaper, and you can still get to the venue in around 30 to 40 minutes by car or bus.

UPGRADE PICKS

Hotel Indigo Williamsburg

This Williamsburg spot is a super-quick train ride to the venue and close to shopping, bopping, and restaurants. Our venue coordinator has recommended it for other weddings in the area.

They don’t offer a discount code, so keep an eye on the pricing—it may fluctuate quite a bit.

Arlo Williamsburg

The MOST luxe option. Here’s an alleged discount code for booking (although it seems to be the same rate as if you were to just book a room on your own? So be vigilant and check rates on your own, too, to compare.

A few general notes on location

Manhattan and Brooklyn are both good options! Williamsburg and the East Village are a couple of fun neighborhoods with easy L train access. We live in Park Slope and will be staying here for wedding weekend.

If I were you I would not stay near Times Square unless you’re planning to spend a ton of time seeing shows or you really love flashing! lights! If it says Hell’s Kitchen or Midtown… that’s a no from me. 🙂‍↔️

Where to fly

  • JFK

A classic choice. Fly in here and take the A/C/E train (subway) or the LIRR (railroad) into the city.

Pros: Great if you’re staying further south in Brooklyn (near Barclays or downtown Brooklyn). You can take LIRR from the airport directly to Barclays.

Cons: The AirTrain, which you must take if you’re planning to get into the city by subway or train, is like $9. So expensive! How dare!

  • La Guardia

An up-and-coming airport experience. There’s a fountain light show now! Wow! Great if you’re staying in Williamsburg.

Pros: A super-quick cab ride to Williamsburg.

Cons: More difficult to get to Manhattan or Brooklyn via public transit from this airport. (We do a bus-to-train-to-train situation. Happy to advise on the best option if you’d like to transit it).

  • Newark

Ah, Newark. The Jersiest airport in every way.

Pros: Not actually as far away as you always think it’s going to be.

Cons: Still pretty far away. Far enough that a cab to Brooklyn is around $100. We generally take New Jersey Transit from the airport to Penn Station, then take the subway from there to our destination.
